Grandview, AR - Carroll County
History of Grandview
Located between Berryville and Eureka Springs on HWY 143, the town of Grandview was founded by Samuel O. Taggert with the arrival of the railroad in Carroll County. The community had originally been called "White Elm", and some of the first people to settle in the area were the McElyea and Edmondson Families. Legend has it that Brack Edmondson first suggested the name "Grandview". The Grandview Post Office was established on August 27, 1901, and Charlie R. Crabaugh served as first postmaster. The Grandview Post Office would outlast the railroad, remaining in operation until the death of postmaster Jack L. Ray in 1981. Mail service was then handled out of Berryville.
