Metalton, AR - Carroll County
History of Metalton
The historic town of Metalton is located on HWY 21, about 11 miles south of Berryville. The first post office in Metalton opened on July 6, 1898 with Lillie Jones serving as postmaster. It closed for a couple of years starting in 1923, but continued to serve the community after that, until it was shut down for good on November 15, 1967. Berryville would carry the mail service from that point forward.
The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F) Lodge #559 in Metalton was instituted on December 19, 1908. The charter was picked up on March 21, 1921.
